Summer learning journey

 Today we are signing up for the summer learning journey that goes on until next year. The summer learning journey is a fun website that takes part over the christmas holidays the summer learning journey is fun because if you participate you could win a prize sometimes it's a drone, a new ipad a new chromebook and sometimes they even give you extra things like rugby balls, lollis and more. and there is a lot of fun activities they do and also here is a picture of space from NASA. 

Story Board

 Today's blog is about a teacher who is no longer satisfied with her job because she is getting to old the job and has to wax her legs, thread the odd hair on her eyebrow and her straight her hair and it's in a poem, my favourite part of the poem is when she is talking about a plane crash that happened the day before and is comparing one of the parts from the plane crash in her job as a teacher. The part was she use to enjoy stuffing little heads full of information until they would burst like packed suitcases, after reading the poem we had to do answer 10 question from the poem after that we had to do a storyboard on which was our favourite part about the poem and mine was the plane crash here is a picture.

Basic Facts stage 8 timed

 Today's blog is about prototec and see if I have improved before and after the covid lockdown. The stage that I am currently at is stage 8 timed and on the first attempt of trying to get my highest it was had because I couldn't remember a lot of things in the third column with percentages, fractions and decimals and I need to learn my LCM ( Lowest Common Multiples ) also I forgot some of my factors. Below is how many I got right and my percentage.

Food tech

Today at food tech we made popcorn corn chicken with wedges. The first thing we did when we got there

we had to get ourselves ready like getting our aprons getting our washing equipment

ready and also washing our hands. After washing our hands we got our ingredients prepared 

Ms Hamer gave us a demonstration of what we should do with the chicken she 

prepared.

She told us  that she marinade the chopped up chicken in milk and a bit of lemon juice,

after that she dipped the chicken in the plain flower and then the beaten egg

last but not least bread crumbs but with the bread crumbs you can add any seasoning you 

like. After dipping our chicken in the flour, egg and bread crumbs we got our tray and put foil

over and sprayed the canola oil over it and placed our chicken on the tray. We left it in the oven for 10

minutes, after the 10 minutes we take it out and flip it and put it back in the oven. 

After cooking the chicken we took it out off the oven to let it cool down, then we took our 

lunch boxes to Ms Hamer to get our wedges after that we got our popcorn chicken and add our 

sauces and it was awesome.   

The  ingredients required are:

Chopped up chicken big/small

1 or 2 eggs

plain flour

bread crumbs 

any seasoning you want

and any sauces

Tool required are:

Chopping board

knife

3 bowls

tray

canola oil spray

tongs

cooking mittens

foil

and a tray

New rotation - Tech Term 2

This week we have a new rotation at tech, my group and I are in the cooking class

with Mrs Hamer. On Tuesday at tech we made smoothies but first we had to sort out 

our groups for tech then we went to our classes, when we got to our classes we had to 

find a seat and go put our jumpers/jackets and lunch boxes away, Then grab a appren, wash 

our hands. Then grab dishwashing liquid a cloth, tea towel and a ajax spray bottle and 

put it on the window sill. 

Next we got our equipment. Equipment needed

a knife

a peeler  

chopping board

a blender

measuring cups

and a bowl for chopped fruit/vegetables.

Then we get the ingredients and cooking tools ready. After that we chopped, measured

and blended the ingredients together. After blending we had to pour our drinks 

into our plastic cups and if there were extra in the blender than we had to take a sip

of the smoothie from our cups and pour more until it's finished.  

The ingredients were

1 cup of milk

1/2 Tbsp of yogurt

1/2 a banana, peeled and chopped

1/2 a apple, peeled/not, cored and chopped

chopped spinach

ice cubes

honey/maple syrup

blend for a minute or 2

Before we could drink our smoothies we had to clean our cooking station and 

our dishes then we had to call Mrs Hamer so she can check our cooking and dishes 

after that she took our pictures and we drank our smoothies. It was fun and you should 

try it out.

 

   

Life circle of a frog

 Today my friend and I have learned how to use google form. It was hard at first, then after a couple of minutes I got the hang of it. I learned how to give feedback, I learned how to put my form on blogger and more. It really fun to use google form now and I hope you enjoyed my quiz.   

All About Me

 

Malo e lelei blogger it's the first week back at school and I'm actually trying my best to keep up with my work. Being a year 7 is hard because you learn a lot more than the previous year. 

My goals for this year:

To be a better role model

To get smarter

To help family/friends

To try my best on test 

Try to work very hard

and learn about new things in school

This year I would like to get better and better every day and try my hardest to achieve my goals.                Achieving my goals will make me very happy, next year I would like to achieve the same  goals               and new goals so I can get a scholarship to Tamaki College. Getting a scholarship will make me and my    family happy and proud.

My dream holiday

 For my dream holiday I would like my family and I to come together and have activities such                        as rugby, volleyball, swimming, netball and others, I would love to see the smiles on my                              family's faces. In the nights I would like to hear the dogs howl like wolves and I                                    would like to hear the wind whistling on Sunday afternoons while we fall asleep. Throughout the               holiday I would like to go on a road trip with my family down to one of the campsites in the            beautiful coromandels. While we are at coromandels I would like my family and I to go fishing and catch some kinas, flounders, snappers and other seafood. That is what I would love for my dream holiday.

The story of the Coggen

 One day there were theses two kids called Duffey and Bex, Bexs was reading a book about a mythical creature called a Coggen it was part dog, cat and a chicken. Bexs and Duffey wanted one very bad so she asked her mum if she could buy but it wasn't easy. Her mum asked siri and siri founded a video of a man breeding hydra creature meaning different animals put together. 

Bexs and Duffey named the Coggen and it's name is Milly, Milly as silly and bad she would poop everywhere and Bexs mum Lex was not alright with it. The next day Bexs couldn't handle it so she said," Milly i'm going to call Aaron to take you back." Milly got very angry and left. Bexs and Duffey went to go and see Bexs mum Bexs told her that Milly was to much to handle. All three of them were wondering why it was quiet then they asked each other  where is Milly they were running in and out of the house yelling and screaming," Milly where are you come back home," 

Lex told Bexs and Duffey if you two are going to find Milly you two are going to need food so Lex gave them one oat bar each. So set off to find Milly they went up the mountains they could trake her down fast because she's fast as a dog, quiet as a cat but her chicken part made a lot of noise like an elephant and she poops a lot. They found her but she hid behind the bushes they remembered that Coggens like oats and poreges next to a fire. They had oat bars Bexs brought her one out and Milly ran and caught it she was very fast and ran away. 

They both got back home and Bexs told her mum Milly to fast for them Bexs got one of the books from the shell and it was about the Coggen it said if you sing theses words and there are a lot of children it would come back to you. Then Bexs asked her mum if she could post a, a poster saying everyone meet up at the town center and we will sing a song for our whanau, but it was really for Milly to come back home. They all sang and Milly came back and they lived ever after.

Reading music notes

On Monday Room 11 learned how to read music notes. There are different music notes that people 

use in their music so it's easier for them to play on the instruments. 

This is an  image of some music notes, some music notes are single and some 

are with others thing that make it sound different. Some instruments have the same notes

and other have different like a piano. A piano has 7 notes C, D, E, F, G, A and B and

the black short keys that have the some notes but with a # like E# and it has 52 white keys.

Now let's talk about a guitar a guitar has strings but the same notes E, A, D, G, B and E 

but it has numbers like E4.
 

Dance

On Tuesday Room 11 had dance on the second block. Dance took place in the hall
and the dance teacher was called Mrs.G she told us a a lot about dance.
There is different types of dances but I didn't know which one it was.
There were also words that Mrs.G told us about like recipe meaning turning, rolling, jumping
and balancing, flavor meaning emotions.

Mrs told us to get into groups of two I was with Ngapera, then Mrs said," Make a handshake
with four moves". Me and Ngapera's handshake was about black panther because the
actor the acted black panther died from cancer. Then we had to number our first partner with three
different classmates. Then Mrs.G said to get into a circle because we were playing a game that was about clapping, there were three different claps and we had to beat the other class is time and it was
about 8 or 7 seconds.

It took us three tries to beat them a then when we heard our score it was
5.25 seconds we were running everywhere and screaming. After the clapping game
we got into dancing the dance had to be about three different emotions and three different
actions. Me and Ngapera done angry, sad, and surprised, first we had to practice. Then we had to add in turning, rolling, jumping, and balancing.

Then we had only one minute to practice, then after that minute finished we had to
show the whole class our dance. The girls went first but there were only four girl in two
groups then after the girls the boys went and there were 6 boys. After the dance everyone
was tried but it was fun.

Blaming other people

Today we had Bounce back and Michelle was talking about blaming yourself or other people

or just equally blaming each other. The first task we had to do was to tell Michelle how we felt in lockdown. 

The next task she told a story about a boy that stole his sisters phone without permission,

then she said," He left the phone in his bag in his class and someone stole it". Then 

Michelle gave us another task. The task was to circle the sentence you think is

right for the question.

Before we got into the task Michelle told us to get into groups and disgust what you think 

is best for the question. Before you could even start the task you had to read the story before

you can answer the question but it was not really like a question but the same. 

There were four stories and all of the stories reflect on blaming yourself or others and how big 

was your bad luck.

She told another story after the task the story was about 2 friends that played basketball

and they were in the semi finals but they lost by 1 point, but 1 friend got angry because 

the other players showed up late and didn't play well. But the other friend was happy but

two players came late and their super star was sick.

Don't blame anyone because you might blame the wrong person and the 

person that done it got away. How would you feel? 

 

Measuring Water

Today we were learning about measuring, we had to measure our favorite glass
with a measuring glass or cup. We also had to guess how much does our cup measures.
My guess was 190 ml but my cup measured 335 ml and I was
145 ml far from my random guess. We also have to find our dads favorite
cup and do the same with it and take a picture too.

Today we learned about a new web site were you can create posters and presentations and
other things so you can show there people your work and it will be better then
a normal document or a slide.

Digital technology

On Monday room 11 had digital technology in the morning, when we got into the hall
there was a man named Matua Tamati and he tough us about digital technology.
The first step was to get into threes I was with Roimata and Joesph.The next step was to pick
someone from your group to get an ipad.

After that we had to build objects like a tree, bird, ice-cream and a house, then he told
us some words like input, process, output, storage, algorithm and csi, csi means clear,
step by step simple and instruction. The next day we got to do some coding,
coding is giving someone or something instructions so they make can it to the other side.
We got to use mbot, mbot is a little robot that you can control with a device.

Some of us done wheelies and some send it back and forward but we only got
a little time to play. On Wednesday we went back to the hall in the second block.
Matua Tamati said," Today we will be playing some games with mbot".  Then we
got into 4,3 and 2's my group was me, Ngapera and Joesph, we got  a ipad and an and
our mbot drifter. Then we had to make a circle and make sure mbot doesn't touch you or
escape.

After that we got into a big circle and Matua told us to put our mbots into the middle and who ever gets tagged they have to turn on their lights and spin around and run after other mbots.
After one game we played the last one standing it was easy.

How to play the last one standing?

There would be a tager and other bots, the tager has his or hers lights on and then they spin
after spin they tag other bots and when they get tagged they turn on they lights and help the
tager and then when everyone got tagged and there is one more bot left that bot is the winner.

Matariki

Matariki has to different meanings the first on is mata ariki meaning the
eyes of god and the second one matariki meaning little eyes.

Water cycle

The water cycle is about water going and coming. How are clouds made? Well clouds are made
from the ocean the when the sun is very hot and it shines on the water it heats up
the water in the ocean and it is an invisible gas that turns into water droplets(rain).

It is like a kettle it heats up the water and then the water releases an invisible gas that we call
steam and if there is to much steam steam is the clouds will releases water droplets(rain)
and it goes around and around but sometimes water goes away because we drink it
and that's the water cycle.
